FAQ

Q: What experience do you have?

A: Please see the about section

Q: I just bought a new digital "point and shoot" camera. Can you really help me learn how to use it and take better pictures?

A: Yes, I use a compact camera for personal use. Most of these cameras have many setting choices and in order to take great pictures, there are many tips I can offer.  I will also take the mystery out of reading the instruction manual.

Q: A friend gave me a 35mm film camera.  Can you help me use it?

A: Yes! See the next answer.

Q: I enjoyed my point and shoot camera, but just bought a new DSLR camera (with interchangeable lenses).  Is this something you can help me with?

A: Yes, This is primarily what I do! I've used SLR film cameras for over 25 years and bought my first Digital SLR 10 years ago. I'm experienced at using and teaching ALL the different camera types and brands (Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Leica, etc...)

Q: I've been shooting pictures for a long time and know a lot...but, still get confused with some of the settings of my camera. What can you do to help?

A: I will customize a personal lesson for you based on answers to some of my questions.

Q: I'm a professional photographer part time. I take great pictures but, sometimes the images don't turn out the way I want them to. Do you think I can do better?

A: I'm talented at giving more advanced lessons.  I've worked with many photographers over my 25 year career.  I've ALWAYS spent time to learn as much as I can, stay current with the changes in digital photography & share my knowledge with others. I've also given many lessons to professionals in the past.

Q: I'm very interested in taking an individual tutoring session with you...but, you are far from me; can we do a lesson at or near my home, a park, beach or my child's sporting event or other activity?

A: Yes, for a reasonable fee, that can be arranged.

Q: I'm looking for more specific training using my camera. What do you offer?

A: Besides teaching the specifics of the camera; I give lessons for shooting sports, weddings & events, portraiture, children, glamour, corporate, nature & travel, wildlife, macro & product, flash, studio lighting, and using natural light (inside and out). Please view the "classes" page of this website. All the subjects listed can be taught in private lessons.

Q: I'm not comfortable using my computer, but I know it's important when working with digital images. Can you help?

A: Yes! see the next answer.

Q: I'd like to learn more about how I use the computer to organize and enhance my photos. What type of training is available?

A: I can help you with your photography- related computer needs ...from the "basics" (opening and moving images to your computer, backing up, resizing pictures, simple editing, etc.) to more advanced (Photoshop retouching, work flow with organizing & enhancing hundreds of images, etc.)

Q: What are your charges?

A: My rates are reasonable, with starting prices under $20 per hour for small group classes or under $60 per hour for private lessons.  For specific pricing, contact me direct by Email or phone.
